About Puja
Manasik Shanti (Chandra) Anushthan — Jaap, Abhishek, Havan is a sacred Moon-remedy ritual performed to calm the mind, balance emotions, and restore inner stability. In Vedic astrology, Chandra (Moon) governs manas (mind), feelings, sleep, motherly blessings, and mental resilience. When the Moon is weak, afflicted, or imbalanced in the horoscope, a person may experience mood swings, overthinking, anxiety, restlessness, lack of focus, disturbed sleep, relationship sensitivity, or instability in decision-making. This anushthan typically includes Chandra Mantra Jaap (recitation with sankalp), followed by Chandra Abhishek—a devotional offering to Lord Shiva or Chandra Dev using sacred items such as milk, water, and soothing dravyas (as per tradition). The final step is Havan (fire ritual) with Moon-specific samagri and aahutis, offered to purify negative influences and strengthen positive lunar energy. Devotees seek this puja for mental peace, emotional healing, improved sleep, clarity, confidence, harmony at home, and better outcomes in studies and creative work. With sincere sankalp and guidance of learned priests, this Moon-anushthan is believed to bring coolness, stability, and sattvic strength to one’s life, helping the devotee feel protected, grounded, and spiritually refreshed.
About Temple
Ujjain’s Navagraha Mandir (Triveni) is a revered spiritual spot located at Triveni Ghat on the banks of the Shipra (Kshipra) River. Devotees come here to worship the nine planetary deities (Navagrahas)—Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu—seeking balance in life, peace of mind, and relief from difficult planetary phases. The temple is especially popular for Grah Shanti prayers, where pilgrims offer flowers, sweets, and perform traditional parikrama as part of their devotion. According to the district tourism description, the temple attracts large crowds on Amavasya (new moon) days that fall on Saturdays, reflecting its strong connection with planetary remedies—particularly related to Shani’s influence. Because Ujjain is already known as a major Jyotirlinga city (Mahakaleshwar), many pilgrims include the Navagraha Mandir in their darshan circuit—especially when they are performing Navagraha Shanti Puja, Shani Shanti, Chandra Shanti, or dosh-nivaran sankalp.
Benefits of Puja
Chandra (Moon) governs mind, emotions, and inner stability. This anushthan is performed to pacify lunar afflictions and support calm thinking. Regular sankalp, mantra jaap, and havan vibrations are believed to reduce overthinking, mood swings, and emotional heaviness, bringing mental clarity and steadiness.
Disturbed Moon often reflects as restlessness and irregular sleep. Through jaap, abhishek, and shanti havan, the practice aims to settle mental agitation and improve relaxation. Devotees commonly seek this ritual for deeper sleep quality, reduced nighttime anxiety, and a more refreshed morning routine.
When Chandra is afflicted, stress sensitivity can increase. This ritual is chosen for emotional healing and mental resilience. The sankalp-based worship, coupled with fire offerings, is believed to reduce fear patterns, inner insecurity, and unnecessary worry, helping devotees feel protected and mentally stronger.
A weak Moon can create confusion and indecision. By strengthening lunar energy, the anushthan supports clearer thinking, improved concentration, and confident decisions. Students and professionals often opt for this puja to reduce distractions, enhance memory, and stabilize emotions that interfere with productivity.
Moon influences compassion, nurturing, and emotional bonding. This anushthan is performed to soften negativity and enhance mutual understanding. It may help reduce irritability and emotional misunderstandings, supporting peace in family and married life, and encouraging more respectful, empathetic communication with loved ones.
During challenging dasha/antardasha or transits affecting the Moon, emotional turbulence may rise. This anushthan is a spiritual support system to stabilize the mind and attract positivity. It is often performed for mental peace during stressful life transitions, uncertainties, or repeated emotional setbacks.
Beyond astrology, the ritual acts as deep spiritual cleansing. Abhishek, mantra jaap, and havan create a devotional atmosphere that helps devotees reconnect with faith. It is believed to remove mental heaviness, invite sattvic energy, and strengthen inner calm, gratitude, and spiritual grounding.
